Keep Your Hotel Details Somewhere Easy to Find

Arriving at a hotel is usually the easy part. You check in, drop your bags, perhaps take a quick look around the room, and head out to explore. Hours later, you may find yourself in a taxi, at a train station, or standing on an unfamiliar street trying to remember exactly where you are staying.
It sounds unlikely until it happens. Hotel names can be surprisingly similar, particularly in large cities. You might remember the neighbourhood but not the street, or remember the building but forget which entrance you used. If you are travelling with someone else, there is also no guarantee they will remember it either.
Before leaving your accommodation for the first time, save the hotel’s full name, address, and phone number somewhere easy to reach. A screenshot works well because you can access it without opening an email or relying on a mobile connection. You can also keep a small written note in your wallet or travel pouch.
Take note of the local address format too. In some places, a landmark or nearby street may be more useful to a driver than the hotel’s English name. If you are visiting a country where you do not speak the local language, having the address written exactly as it appears on the hotel’s website or booking confirmation can save an awkward conversation.
Your room number is another useful detail, but treat it differently. You do not need to display it publicly or share it casually. If you are travelling with family or friends, make sure everyone knows where to find their own accommodation details rather than relying on one person to remember everything.
This becomes particularly useful after a long day of sightseeing. You may be tired, carrying shopping bags, and thinking about dinner rather than street names. Having the information ready means you can simply show it to a taxi driver or look it up without rummaging through old emails.
It takes less than a minute to save these details before heading out. You probably will not need them. But if you do, having your hotel’s name and address ready can turn a frustrating few minutes into a very simple trip back home.
