A notification appears on your phone saying an update is available. It’s easy to tap “Later” and forget about it. After all, the phone seems to be working perfectly well. But software updates aren’t simply about adding new features or changing the appearance of an app. They can play an important role in keeping your devices secure and reliable.
One of the biggest reasons to install updates is security. Technology companies regularly discover weaknesses that could potentially be exploited by criminals. Updates can fix these vulnerabilities, helping protect your personal information, accounts, and device.
Updates can also solve annoying problems. Perhaps an app keeps closing unexpectedly, your camera behaves strangely, or a particular feature isn’t working properly. An update may contain a fix without you needing to change anything yourself.
